Made in Ghana, Unity Carvings are carved from one single piece of wood and have symbolic meaning to the Ghanaians. They represent co-operation and respect between family and community. Traditionally carved from ebony, mahogany, or acacia species, these and other wood handcrafts have become so popular that deforestation has become a real issue. These Unities are made of cedar because it is a fast growing, sustainable tree in Ghana Three headed, 5 headed and 7 headed carvings are fairly common. Similar pieces have been featured in Traditional Home Magazine as supports for glass top accent tables.
